Abstract

"The current investigation assessed the generalization effects of a mixed-trial tabletop procedure for one individual with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A multiple probe design across two groups of two stimulus sets each was used to evaluate the extent to which novel listener behavior and tacts in tabletop and natural environment settings emerged after teaching tacts and listener behavior responses, respectively. Both tact and listener behavior training were effective and the number of trials to criterion was comparable for learning both operants. Tact training resulted in slightly more novel listener behavior responses than novel tacts after listener behavior training. At the conclusion of the study, all natural environment performances were shown with the primary and a new therapist."
