Abstract

"We used the Performance Diagnostic Checklist – Human Services (PDC-HS) to target incomplete behavior data collection (Study 1) and inaccurate behavior data (Study 2). The 3 participants in Study 1 and 4 participants in Study 2 were all direct-care staff who worked in a residential school for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. For both studies, the PDC-HS was completed by the primary researcher and 3 of the direct-care participants’ supervisors to identify variables contributing to poor staff performance. A treatment based on variables not indicated as contributing to poor staff performance by the PDC-HS was implemented for 1 participant in each study. A treatment based on variables indicated as contributing to poor staff performance was implemented for all participants. The non-indicated treatment was ineffective in both studies. The indicated treatment was effective in changing behavior to mastery criteria in Study 1. The first indicated treatment was ineffective in changing behavior data to mastery criteria in Study 2, but a second indicated treatment in combination with the first treatment was effective. Maintenance and generality were assessed for Study 1. Participants for whom maintenance was assessed maintained their performance. Generality data was variable across participants, with 1 out of 3 participants showing possible evidence of generality."
