Abstract
"The purpose of this study was to teach three adolescent girls with autism to engage in social initiations directed to peers using a multiple baseline across participants design. Scripted initiations were taught using a treatment package consisting of peer confederates, textual scripts and video modeling. Once the participants consistently imitated the video model the video model was removed. Participants were then assessed to see if they maintained the ability to initiate to their peers without the assistance of the video model. Generalization and maintenance probes were then conducted. All three participants learned the social initiation scripts with the video model present. Two participants maintained and generalized the social skills."
